Pte H.H. Umpleby

Henry Herbert 'Lar' Umpleby was born in 1920 in Stockton on Tees, England, one of seven children. His Mother's maiden name was Hobbs.


He married Joan Daley in October 1943 in Sunderland.


Henry survived the Normandy conflict but was killed in Rangoon, Myanmar (Burma) in February 1946, whilst serving with 2nd Bttn KOSB.
