The take over from 2/RUR was completed and by 0640 hrs all tracked vehicles were in position.
An M.E. 109 flying low & fast was shot down by A/A fire.
'C' Coy O.P. reported 6 heavy lorries in wood near BURON (9972).

Bttn withdrawn and relieved by 2ND RUR.
(Conflicting. Relieved by 5th Bttn South Staff Reg (58th Infantry Division) at Cambes then marched to Benouville to prepare for attack on Caen).
From the 20th to the 29th June the Battalion was withdrawn from Cambes, and relieved by the 2nd Bn The Royal Ulster Rifles, whose positions we then occupied. These were in Brigade Reserve at Le Mesnil Farm and, under the illusion that we were in a relatively safe area, we doffed our helmets and wore bonnets for the first time since landing. This practice ceased abruptly when it was realised that the enemy was only one thousand yards away and shelling us heartily. Casualties continued to be severe and at Cazelle, where our transport was, several men were killed and wounded.
