Cpl D.H. Pitcairn

Douglas Haig Pitcairn was born in Bathgate, West Lothian, Scotland in 1916. His Mother's maiden name was Logan.


He enlisted in March 1940 at Berwick on Tweed and was 5 foot 5 and weighed 143lbs. He had brown eyes and black hair. He was posted to KOSB on June 9th, 1940 when they were in Shepton Mallet.


After being wounded in Normandy he was moved around and finally posted to Permanent Staff in Edinburgh. He was released from Service in Feb 1946.


He married Helen McGilfether in 1956 in Stoneyburn, Scotland.


He sadly died 10 years later in 1966 at the age of 49.
