L/Cpl J. R. Agar

John Robert Agar was born in Lancaster, Lancs in September 1921. His Mother's maiden name was Elsbury.


In the 1939 Register he was living in Durham and his occupation is listed as 'Colliery Ptter - Heavy Work'.


His medals were awarded in Feb 1949 whilst serving with The 1st Royal Norfolks.


He died in January 1994 in Durham at the age of 72.


*At the age of 17, John was fined £1 for throwing a firework in his local cinema.
