Celesta/Celester Vincent Battista was born in July 1916 in Newcastle upon tyne, England. His mother's maiden name was Dodds. His father, Remigeo, was from Cassino in Italy and the 1921 Census has him working as a Ash Felter.


Celesta married Helen S L Baird in October 1939 in Newcastle.


He died in May 2005 at the age of 88.
