Multiple gunshot wounds. Possibly wounded whilst on patrol in Cambes area.

Pte Albert Palmer

Albert Palmer was born in Hawick in 1923. He was the youngest of four boys. (All who served in WW2)


The newspaper report in The Hawick News, Friday June 23, 1944

states, "Private Palmer sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the head, right arm, right leg, thorax and stomach."


According to the article, James enlisted in the Army at age 14 and was placed on reserve. He later joined The Royal Scots and served with the Lowland Regiment and as a paratrooper.


He was discharged from the Army in September 1945.
