Joseph Grant was born in 1924 in St Clement, Dundee. Son of William and Jemima Grant (nee Scott).
He was killed in Feb 1945 whilst serving with the 5th Bttn of the KOSB and is buried in Milsbeek War Cemetery, Limburg, Netherlands.

"The 52nd Lowland Division passes through the 51st Highland division to clear Broerdersbos. The 4th and 5th KOSB and the 5th Bn. Highland Light Infantry are stuck in Broerdersbos for several weeks due to heavy defence of and around Castle Bleijenbeek. The road from Afferden to Siebengewald remains closed for the allied troops.
The 5th Coldstream Guards moves south from Hommersum toward Mull. Due to heavy defence 14 Guards are Killed. They were relieved by the Irish Guards.
The 1st Black Watch, with support of Churchill tanks and Crocodiles, attacked Hassummer Bahnhof."
