Stretcher bearer from North Shields

Roland Benjamin Cunningham came from North Shields.
He is very likely the 'Rolly' Cunningham who, with Joe Lant, carried Bill Harmon to the dressing station after Bill was accidentally shot in the foot on 28 February 1945. Bill lived beside him in Shields. You can read Bill's account on his page.
He may also be the Cunningham named in the newspaper report on the Escaut Canal crossing – see our post 400 Yard Dash at the Escaut Canal.
The image is his medal card.
