Ernest Frederick Hayden was born on the 29th November, 1920 in Hertfordshire, England. Before the War he was a 'Cow Man' on a farm. He originally joined the Royal Artillery and is listed as serving with them in 1941.


He married Brenda Simpson in November 1943 in Chesterton, Cambridgeshire. (Still listed as Royal Artillery on marriage certificate).
