1st KOSB CASUALTIES

On 6 June 1944 the 1st Battalion landed on Sword Beach as part of 9th Infantry Brigade, 3rd British Infantry Division.

Over the following weeks it held the line at Cambes and Le Mesnil, entered Caen in July and attacked at Troarn and Sannerville. In August it fought around Vire and Le Pissot, before leaving Normandy and heading for Belgium.

This page remembers the men of the Battalion who were killed in action or died of wounds during the Normandy campaign. That includes those lost at sea on D-Day, those who died of their wounds after being brought home to hospitals in the UK, and KOSB men serving with the Commandos.
