Bouglas

Gilbert Bouglas was born in 1920 in Drumlanrig Square, Hawick. He attended St. Cuthbert's Primary School.

He received the Palestine 1945-48 Clasp to his GSM General Service Medal.

He was still serving with the 1st Battalion in Palestine at New Year 1948. He is in the Sergeants' group photographed before the Officers v Sergeants football match on New Year's Day, and played in the Sergeants' team. The Chronicle prints his name as 'Sergt. J. Buglas'. (Borderers' Chronicle, March 1948, pp.8–9) Gilbert's daughter sent us a huge batch of her Dad's photos which we have added to the site. He also served in Hong Kong after the War.
