Tom Mabin was born in Hawick in 1915 and lived in Drumlanrig Square.


He landed on Sword Beach on D+1


Tom made a recording in the 1990s detailing his attempts to join up whilst working in a reserved occupation, and how he missed being posted to the 4th Bttn and ended up in 1st KOSB.


He died on the 6th of June, 2004 - the 60th Anniversary of D-Day.
