Son of William and Annie Spratt. In the 1939 Register, he is living in Bedlington, Northumberland and his occupation is listed as 'Screening coals at waste above' (Mine worker). He was wounded in August 1944 during Operation Bluecoat and the attack on Vire and Vaudry. You can read more about the action, and the cost, here . Roger was wounded again on 24th September 1944. He was discharged from the Army in February 1946.
