16 August 1945
Deynze, Belgium
A major exchange of personnel began: a draft of around 150 men arrived from 5th K.O.S.B. as an equivalent number of the Battalion own men, in the older release age groups, departed to join the 5th Battalion. A similar exchange with 7/9th Royal Scots and 4th K.O.S.B. followed over the next two days. In total some 21 new officers and around 420 new other ranks joined the Battalion in this reshuffle, following the decision that the atomic bombings had ended the need to prepare the Division for the invasion of Japan.
