Yves Marie Le Friec was born in February 1899 in St Peter Port, Guernsey, the Channel Islands. His mother's maiden name was Trebuy.


He served with the Machine Gun Corps in WW1 with Service No. 132006.


In the 1921 census he was in Apbar Barracks in Agra, India.


In January 1924 he was serving in Iraq with KOSB and 8th Machine Gun Corps. From what we can tell, he was promoted from Private to Lance Corporal around this time.


He married Ellen Jameson in late 1927 in Berwick.


In 1934 he received the Long Service and Good Conduct medal (LSGC)


In 1936 he lived in Dovecote Street in Hawick, Scotland and was listed as a 'Drill Instructor'.
