A Bde Comd's 'O' Gp was held at Bde HQ. We were to take over a sector of the River RHINE from a troop of the 43rd Recce Regt. Our role was primarily to stop the enemy from even setting foot on this side of the River, and secondly but none the less important, the job of providing as much information as possible about the troops on the opposite bank, their dispositions and particularly their defences and any obstacles which they had erected.
