Alternative Information (from books, personal accounts)

On 21st February we were told to prepare our training programmes for another 10 days stay in Belgium. This message had hardly arrived before it was followed up by the far more dramatic one that we were to prepare to move next day. Advance parties were despatched to Holland and the Battalion got ready to move.

The next day the advance parties came hurtling back again and we were told that we were not going to Holland after all but to no less an auspicious place than Goch, the town in Germany which at that moment was all the news.
