Preparations were made for the unexpected move to the LOUVAIN area.

The advance party under the 2IC left at mid-day.

Movement Order No.2 was issued and can be found under Appx 'A'.

The cross river patrol led by L/Sgt Scott of "O" Coy crossed the river, but on coming back drifted a long way down stream and so lay up in the WEST bank till daylight, when they found that they were in the RUR sector.

"Intensive training began at Horst and continued into the beginning of February. It was in full swing when the Maas again claimed our attention, and we were ordered to send a reconnaisance patrol across the river in order to study the enemy's defences. The Officer in charge of this patrol was wounded during his preliminary reconnaisance; the Platoon Sergeant carried on, took his men across at ten o'clock on the night of the 5th February and spent an hour and a half on the enemy side. The patrol was not spotted by the enemy and their mines, trip wires and communication trenches were all duly noted. On the return journey the patrol, after being carried by the current into another unit's area, landed successfully and later returned to Battalion Headquarters with their report".
