Capt Jimmy Sturrock, 3rd County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters)

Lieutenant James C Sturrock was among a number of first line reinforcements to join 3rd County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters) in January 1943 during the North African campaign. He was promoted to Captain in March 1943 and commanded 'D' Squadron.

Sturrock served in the Italian campaign and, according to the Sharpshooters' war diary, was later wounded near Eterville in Normandy, during an armoured engagement with German Mark IV and Panther tanks on 10 July 1944. He later replaced Major Oliver Woods as 'A' Squadron Leader in February 1945.
