SUMMARY OF EVENTS AND INFORMATION
The Bn started moving at 0900 hrs and the take over was complete by 1300 hrs, dispositions being as follows :
Bn HQ in GRUBBENVORST -LOTTUM Station 885167,
A Coy HOUTHUIZEN 898178,
B Coy in reserve in area 8617
C Coy at 885162
D Coy 890150
S Coy 888173.
A few mortar bombs landed in A Coy area at midday.
Very poor visibility. Sounds of stakes being driven into the ground were heard at 904154 and a vehicle in the same area during the night.

"We moved on the 29th December back to the banks of the Maas and brought in the New Year in the Grubbenvorst area. The front was some three thousand yards in length and one Company held the village of Houthuizen at the northern end, while another held Grubbenvorst at the southern end. Battalion Headquarters was situated in Lottum, and the rest of the Battalion held a ridge of woodland some five hundred yards from the river. The entire front was under enemy observation by day and movement was impossible near the river: at night we had to patrol constantly lest the enemy infiltrate into the thinly held woods."
