Move Order issued to all units in bde gp
1700 Bde HQ closed down at BIEVILLE and made an uneventful journey via CAUMONT.
2010 Bde HQ re-opened at 770665 with 2 LINCOLNS at 773658, 1 KOSB at 770648, 2 RUR at 762646.
2223 Placed at four hrs’ notice to move, but unlikely to move before 4 Aug.
The weather all day was simply glorious.
"On the following afternoon the Battalion moved out of Bieville in motor transport. We travelled across country, in huge choking clouds of dust, through which we caught a glimpse of Cazelle and our old Le Mesnil positions and later of the distant towers of Bayeux. Eventually, after several hours, we drove through Caumont and out to the neighbourhood of a village called Longraye, where we climbed out of the transport.
What had chiefly impressed us during this move was the fact that it was now possible to cover such distances in securely-held territory".
