9th Infantry Brigade War Diary
On June 27th the Bde Comd held an ‘O’ Gp and issued orders for Operation ABERLOUR, which, following an operation by 8 Br Inf Bde, was to take the Bde forward as far as the road CAEN - BAYEUX. The operation was to begin at 0600 hrs 28 June. 8 Br Inf Bde, however, encountered far stiffer opposition than had been anticipated and their success was so limited that orders were received cancelling our own operation.
