Pte J.P. Mill

James Pool Mill was born in Edinburgh in December 1915.


He enlisted in April 1940 at the Berwick on Tweed barracks. He was 5 foot 8.5 inches and weighed 162lbs. He had blue eyes and 'fair' hair.


He married Dorothy Henderson in April 1941.


Whilst in the Army he trained as a Driver/Mechanic.


*His Service Record states he was evacuated to the UK on 6th June 1944. He was posted to the Black Watch for a time then rejoined 1st KOSB in December 1944.


As well as being wounded in Normandy, he was also wounded in Feb 1945 near Kervenheim, Germany.

He left the Army in August 1945 at the rank of Lance Corporal.
