Hubert Victor Baxter was born in Plumstead, London in September 1919.
His pre-war occupation is listed as 'Compositor'.
He enlisted at Berwick-on-Tweed barracks in February 1940. He was 5 foot 4 and weighed 133.5lbs. His eyes were 'light brown' and his hair 'dark brown'.
Hubert was posted to 1st KOSB in June 1940 when they were in Shepton Mallet.
In January 1942 he passed his test for the trade of Driver Mechanic.
He married Olive Francis in April 1942 in Kent.
After being wounded in Normandy he was returned to the UK and, upon recovery, permanently attached to the London Scottish Regiment.
Hubert was discharged from the Army, after reserve, in May 1946 and was living in Eltham, London at that time.
