Bullet wounds in right foot whilst in Cambes area of Normandy.

Pte J. M. Grieve

John Mathewson Grieve served in India with the KOSB for 8 years before going to Normandy. (His brother, Robert, also served with KOSB in India).


He was 27 when he was wounded.


He married Mary Rodger Darrie in 1943 in Roxburghshire.


He was discharged from the Army on the 2nd of May 1945 - just before VE Day. At the time of claiming his medals (1948), he was living in Selkirk, Scotland.


John died in 1998 at the age of 80.
