Alternative Information (from books, personal accounts)
*PRI stands for President of the Regimental Institute — it's the battalion's internal welfare and amenities fund.
Every British Army battalion had one. The PRI account covered things like:
Regimental canteen profits — beer, cigarettes, small purchases
Sports equipment
Entertainment funds — concerts, recreational activities
Welfare purchases for the men
The President was usually a senior officer (often the Adjutant or Second-in-Command) who managed the fund on behalf of the battalion.
