Senior officer, 1st KOSB. (post war from Captain Anthony J. Dorrity collection).

Alternative Information (from books, personal accounts)

*PRI stands for President of the Regimental Institute — it's the battalion's internal welfare and amenities fund.

Every British Army battalion had one. The PRI account covered things like:

  • Regimental canteen profits — beer, cigarettes, small purchases

  • Sports equipment

  • Entertainment funds — concerts, recreational activities

  • Welfare purchases for the men

The President was usually a senior officer (often the Adjutant or Second-in-Command) who managed the fund on behalf of the battalion.
